Reasons and prevention measures of squash-shaped melon in the green house
Squash-shaped melon in the green house is an intractable question in production. The young fruits turn from green to yellow, become shin and soft with less gloss and the marketability is bad. Here are some reasons and prevention measures for such phenomena.
1. Reasons
The improper circumvents and disorder of the supply of nutrition are the main reasons of squash-shaped melon. The specific reasons can be divided into outer and inner reasons. The inner reasons are relative to bad pollination. Therefore, the growth hormone of plants can not form and the embryo cannot growth normally, which lead to deficiency of fertilizer supply and the plants fail to have normal fructification ability. The outer reasons can be relative to the different varieties、temperature、sunlight、chemical matters such as CO2、 NH3、SO2 and so on. For example, if the content of NH3 of the fields is over 50mg/L, the squash will become melon-shaped and even die.
2. Prevention Measures: choose some unisexual varieties; adjust the temperature to be appropriate. Keep the daytime temperature is among 25~30℃, if the temperature is over 30℃, ventilation is needed to decrease the temperature; strengthen and complement the sunlight to maintain the normal growth of plants; spray hormone to accelerate the growth of the plants; decide proper density of planting; Apply organic fertilizers.
